New name reflects who we are today and where we\u2019re heading tomorrow<\/h2>\n\n

At its annual meeting on May 13, 2025, the RTOERO Board of Directors approved a name change for the organization: effective January 1, 2026, RTOERO will become Entente Education Canada. The new name reflects the organization\u2019s deep education roots and growing national presence, while affirming its commitment to trust, connection and healthy aging. Members can expect the same programs, services and supports\u2014delivered with the same care and community spirit that have always been at the organization’s heart.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cOur new name speaks to who we are today and who we aspire to be,\u201d says John Cappelletti, Chair of RTOERO\u2019s Board of Directors. \u201cWe\u2019ve evolved beyond our original scope as a retirement organization for Ontario teachers. Today, we are a national community of education sector workers and retirees working together to support well-being and advocate for a better aging experience for all.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

The name change follows a multi-year process<\/a> that included extensive consultations with members, partners and staff. While the name is changing, the organization\u2019s brand identity\u2014including its colours, graphics and overall visual style\u2014will remain the same. \u201cFormerly RTOERO\u201d will appear alongside the new name during a transition period to ensure continuity and familiarity.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cEntente is a name that reflects the spirit of our organization\u2014an agreement rooted in understanding, shared values and collective purpose,\u201d says Jim Grieve, CEO of RTOERO. \u201cIt captures how we engage with one another and our many partners as we work toward a healthy, active future for older adults in Canada.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

The organization\u2019s strategic direction remains unchanged. Entente Education Canada will continue to offer exceptional group insurance benefits, member perks, research and advocacy efforts, and local district programs across Canada\u2014empowering older adults and those who support them.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cThis is not a departure from our past\u2014it\u2019s an affirmation of who we\u2019ve become,\u201d adds Grieve. \u201cRetired teachers will always be at the core of our story\u2014they created our organization. With this change, we\u2019re opening the door wider and inviting more people to join us in building a better future\u2014together.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

At the same meeting, the board approved its new strategic plan<\/a>, which will guide the organization until 2030 and focuses on three broad goals:<\/p>\n\n
